It hasn’t been a great start to the season for the Miami Dolphins and quarterback Ryan Tannehill which is why they’ve enlisted some help from franchise legend, Dan Marino.

Marino was brought in as an advisor to the franchise in late August though has seemingly extended his role with the organization which includes becoming a mentor for the current Dolphins signal caller.

Tannehill seems to be a big fan of Marino helping him out as he told NFL.com.

“Dan has been great. He has been around a lot as of recent. I have watched tape with him. He has been in a few meeting rooms. He is a great resource to have around with his knowledge of the game, you know obviously and the success that he had,” Ryan Tannehill said. “He is always just pointing out little things on tape, whether it is receiver routes or something I am doing. He is good at picking up little things and passing them along.”

If you’re looking for a mentor at the quarterback position you aren’t going to find many options better than Dan Marino.

Is Marino’s assistance helping however? Well, through the first three games of the season Ryan Tannehill had a quarterback rating over 73 just once (79). In the four weeks since, Ryan Tannehill has put up passer ratings of 83, 109 and 123 before tossing a dud in there last week.

Understandably Ryan Tannehill is a work in progress for the Miami Dolphins though it does look as if Dan Marino’s influence is slowly starting to pay off. Hopefully that’s quick enough for wide receiver Mike Wallace who continues to vent his frustration regarding the struggling offense.
