Kobe Bryant suggests the Los Angeles Lakers and fans need to be patient despite the worst ever start to the season for the storied NBA franchise.

Although the Los Angeles Lakers brought in players like Carlos Boozer and Jeremy Lin during the offseason, such was a bit of a disappointment when their main free agent targets was talent like Carmelo Anthony.

Few believed the Lakers would put themselves in position for a playoff birth though there was some hope they wouldn’t be as bad as advertised. So far that hasn’t been the case however as the Lakers currently sit at an NBA worst 0-4, the worst start in franchise history.

Given that it would be understandable for Kobe Bryant to be frustrated and rip the Lakers apart, right? Not exactly as the iconic NBA star suggests the team and fans need to be patient.

“I’ve been trained really well by the Yodas of the world,” he said. “The thing they’ve always talked about, just looking at the game, looking at the things you can correct.”

“You don’t stay patient,” Bryant said. “You stay persistently patient. You want those results today, but you understand that it’s a process to get there.”

For what it’s worth Kobe Bryant is doing what he can to be more of a leader for the Los Angeles Lakers franchise this season and isn’t as brash/harsh as he’s proven himself to be in the past. It remains to be seen how such a tactic will work though so far the results aren’t exactly inspiring. That’s hard to blame Bryant for however as the Lakers simply don’t have enough depth or talent to match up with many NBA teams, especially those in the incredibly deep Western Conference.

Barring some major changes it looks to be a rough season in Hollywood for the Lakers, especially given the success the Los Angeles Clippers are likely to experience.
