There was news earlier this week, specifically an excerpt from Messi, a book by Guillem Balagué, that claimed Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo liked to refer to his club and personal rival, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, by an explicit nick name.
"“And that is why, according to some Real Madrid players, CR7 has a nickname for him: ‘motherf—-r’; and if he sees someone from the club speaking to Leo, he also ends up being baptised ‘motherf—-r’.”"
That’s a pretty graphic nickname for anyone, and doesn’t really paint a great picture of Ronaldo, and is just one of many distasteful things Ronaldo allegedly said.
Ronaldo has now come out and denied those allegations.
“News is circulating that I allegedly made offending remarks regarding Lionel Messi,” Ronaldo wrote on Facebook. “This is absolutely false and I have assured my lawyer takes action to sue those responsible. I have the utmost respect for all my professional colleagues, and Messi is obviously no exception.”
This new twist in the feud between Ronaldo and Messi comes at an interesting time. The last time we saw them in action in Champions League play, Ronaldo was supposed to break Raul’s all-time scoring record. He was held scoreless, and Messi not only tied Ronaldo, but moved past him to tie the record instead.
While Ronaldo has commented on this, we still have yet to hear from Messi on these comments and allegations.
