NFL: 5 Most Disappointing Teams In 2014
By Evan Massey
4. Houston Texans
The Houston Texans were not expected to compete in the AFC for much more than a shot at a wildcard spot, but they aren’t even going to have a chance at that. Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t end up being the quarterback that they were hoping he would be, and they are going to turn to Ryan Mallett to see what he is capable of doing. There have been some bright spots this year, but not enough to come up with the wins that they have needed.
J.J. Watt has done his job on the defensive end of the field, and has put himself in contention for the MVP award. Outside of Watt, they have had Arian Foster and DeAndre Hopkins step up. Jadeveon Clowney hasn’t lived up to the potential that they were hoping he’d have when they drafted him with the first overall pick, and he hasn’t been able to stay health either.
It’s been very disappointing the way that everything has gone down for the Texans, but they still have a chance if they can turn things around now. They are 4-5, but simply haven’t been playing good football lately. There is no question that they have the talent, but they will have to realize it and begin playing like it if they want a chance at a wildcard spot.
