Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has been accused by two trucking companies of directly running his Pilot Flying J’s rebate scheme.

Is anyone in the NFL operating a legal business or not getting into trouble with the law? Sure doesn’t seem like it, and Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam’s legal woes continue, as two trucking companies have accused Haslam, who is the CEO of Pilot Flying J, of directly running a rebate scheme designed to cheat trucking companies.

Haslam’s company already paid $92-million in rebate-related fines this summer, and last year they settled a class-action lawsuit against several trucking companies for approximately $85 million. But some of the companies elected to opt-out of the class-action, and peruse legal recourse on their own.

Haslam has repeatedly denied any knowledge of the rebate scheme, and has not yet been charged with any crime, but 10 former Pilot employees have plead guilty to the scheme since the company’s headquarters were raided in April 2013.

So far, Haslam’s legal woes haven’t affected his ownership of the Browns too much, but the Browns did have approximately $25.5 million in salary cap space that hasn’t been spent, so maybe Haslam is trying to save up for some more lawyers.
