The Indianapolis Colts kicker used Jimmy Fallon’s head to distract New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

As seen on Sunday Night Football between the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots, the Colts mascot uses a Jimmy Fallon big head to try to distract the Patriots kicker, Stephen Gostkowski.

Sorry buddy, I do not think it worked as Gostkowski drilled the extra point to make it 7-0 New England after they scored the opening touchdown of the game.

It was definitely a nice effort though and is something that is becoming increasingly popular throughout all sports – using some sort of nonsense sign or image to distract a player during an athletic event.

I have not seen it done before in an NFL game before, though. I feel like there is a fine coming from Roger Goodell in this somewhere – every time you turn around it seems the NFL is giving out fines for goofy, undeserving reasons.

I hope that it is not done here as this is very comical, plus one of the funniest men on TV, Jimmy Fallon gets a little bit more air time on NBC, the same network that airs the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon – even though he probably does not need much more!

In the end, it is a clever attempt at distracting the kicker for the New England Patriots which at no surprise did not seem to have any effect on Gostkowski. These players play through angry fans that may – or may not – have had a bit too much to drink, yelling and screaming obscenities all through out any given game.

I am very intrigued though to see what the NFL does here and if there is some sort of sanction handed down to the Indianapolis Colts. Those offended of this, which I hope most of you are not, should just accept it for what it is – just a mascot trying to distract an opposing player – nothing new in sports.
