While Kobe Bryant appears to be aging gracefully, the Los Angeles Lakers icon is still finding it difficult to complete some of the tasks he did with relative ease at a younger age.
No longer can the Black Mamba slither through the lane and make highlight play after highlight play. No longer can Kobe Bryant always beat his man off the dribble, making him look foolish in every sense of the word. He also apparently can’t hit the rim on 35-foot jumpers either.
With the shot clock winding down against the Dallas Mavericks, Kobe Bryant decided he’d gather himself in his normal shooting stance and fire off a deep though potentially possible shot that looked good from the start.
It had the correct form and the trajectory of the shot looked vintage Bryant. The end result was not though as you could still hear the twine of the net tickle, though it was because Kobe completely whiffed on the shot and all but airballed the attempt.
In fairness to Kobe Bryant, it’s not as if this was a simple shot by any stretch and he’s far from the only NBA player who would thrown up an airball if facing the same scenario. Of course, on the flip side it is Kobe Bryant and we tend to expect more out of the Los Angeles Lakers star even if he probably only missed the rim on 9 out of 10 attempts.
So did Kobe have the last laugh and did his Lakers defeat the Mavs? Not even close as Los Angeles lost by 34, giving up 140 points in the process.
Ouch.
