Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott plans to make changes to the starting lineup as he’s frustrated with the current starters.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

It’s been a woeful start to the season for the Los Angeles Lakers who currently sit at 3-13, good for one of the worst records in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant has given maximum effort but looks like a shell of his former self in terms of efficiency given the struggling teammates around him. Now head coach Byron Scott says a change is needed and the Los Angeles Lakers plan to bench some of their starters.

The change however will not come tonight, though there’s no reason given for that.

Perhaps Byron Scott is attempting to light a fire under the current starters with the threat of being benched, though it remains to be seen how that will work. It’s not as if the Lakers have a ton of options on the bench either, so it’s unlikely the idea of being benched is striking fear into some of the current starters.

Obviously Kobe Bryant won’t be taken out of the lineup nor will Jeremy Lin given the lack of point guards on the roster, so you have to assume it’s Wesley Johnson, Carlos Boozer and/or Jordan Hill who are likely on the brink of being regulated to the pine.

Of course, it’s hard to imagine benching one player or even multiple will have much impact on the outcome of games so it appears to be more of a power play on behalf of Byron Scott than anything who might be trying to send a message.
