The Los Angeles Lakers need a point guard and have draft picks to spare. The Boston Celtics need draft picks and have a point guard to spare.
Might that be enough for Rajon Rondo to find his way to Southern California? Probably not, though the Celtics point guard was spotted having breakfast with Kobe Bryant on Thursday morning which ignited trade rumors.
Rondo and Bryant aren’t what you would consider to be the best of friends considering their paths never crossed outside of the basketball court, though both have shown an appreciation for each other in the past and Kobe Bryant has gone on record suggesting he’d like Rondo to play with him.
The two grabbing a bite to eat only enhanced such talk.
As Baxter Holmes notes, a deal involving the expiring contract of Steve Nash and two first-round picks might actually be somewhat enticing for the Boston Celtics, though nobody really seems to know if they’re really wanting to trade Rajon Rondo or if they’d prefer to keep him.
Most would assume trading Rondo would be the right move for the Celtics and the Lakers would certainly love to obtain the former All-Star, though would they be willing to give up likely lotto selections to do so?
At this point it’s nothing more than speculation as the two talented basketball simply ate breakfast together though you can’t help but wonder if there’s more to it given the current scenarios facing both teams.
