Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob ripped former head coach Mark Jackson, suggesting few in the organization liked him.

When the Golden State Warriors decided to fire head coach Mark Jackson at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season, many wondered why they’d do such. Not only were the Warriors coming off an impressive season, the players seemed to like Jackson for the most part and all was well.

Or at least that’s the impression that was given out.

It was well known that Warriors owner Joe Lacob and Mark Jackson didn’t see eye-to-eye but according to Golden State’s head honcho, he wasn’t the only one who had a problem with Jackson during a recent verbal assault on his former coach.

"While crediting Jackson for changing the Warriors’ culture, Lacob said he didn’t think the team “could be great” without removing a coach he characterized as unwilling to hire better assistants and disliked by many in the organization."

While Joe Lacob may have a point and be correct, you have to wonder why he’s even spending time on the situation considering the Golden State Warriors are now among the best in the NBA and have rookie head coach Steve Kerr doing a fantastic job. If anything continuing to speak about Mark Jackson would be nothing more than a distraction, so it’s probably in the best interest of Lacob to drop the chatter.

Perhaps he’s trying to puff out his chest and show everybody that his decision to fire Mark Jackson was correct, but it seems all would benefit from squashing the subject and moving on.

The Golden State Warriors’ roster has certainly done that as they look primed for a deep postseason run with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson leading the way.
