Few players have more memorabilia available than former New York Yankees icon Derek Jeter, but there is only one ball which was involved in Jeter’s final play as a Major League Baseball player.
Given that, many expected the ball to secure a hefty price tag when it was recently sold and it didn’t disappoint.
In fact, the ball went for nearly $25,000 dollars according to Darren Rovell:
The worst part? The fan who purchased the famed ball didn’t even get one of Derek Jeter’s infamous gift baskets.
In all seriousness though, that’s a pretty sweet piece of memorabilia for any player, let alone somebody like Derek Jeter. Sure, perhaps his first or final hit as a member of the New York Yankees would be a better ball to have, but those are never leaving Jeter’s home office/Cooperstown so this is the next best alternative.
Of course paying nearly $25,000 dollars for a baseball is a pretty hefty investment, but it’s unlikely the ball’s value will depreciate over time considering how popular Derek Jeter is outside of the baseball circle.
It’s not a Babe Ruth ball but it’s still pretty awesome to have.
Jeter of course retired after a storied career and impressive swan song in which he was treated to a variety of gifts during his final stops at each MLB venue.
