The Colorado Rockies are not expected to trade All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowizki to the New York Mets.

More from Colorado Rockies

For months there have been rumors suggesting the Colorado Rockies may eventually cave and trade All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki with the New York Mets being on the receiving end.

While it’s still possible Tulo may find his way out of the Mile High City, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be playing in the Big Apple (at least not on the National League side of things) as any trade between the Colorado Rockies and New York Mets for the infielder is ‘not happening’.

The Colorado Rockies need pitching and the New York Mets have a significant amount of young, talented starters. Meanwhile the New York Mets need an offensive star and the Colorado Rockies have one who they seem at least willing to discuss in trade scenarios.

Given that it appeared on the surface the two teams may have the pieces needed to complete a deal, though for whatever reason it doesn’t sound as if any trade involving Troy Tulowitzki to the New York Mets will be taking place in the near future.

Part of the reason for the struggles to complete a deal could be the alleged extremely elevated asking price of the Colorado Rockies who are said to be seeking a significant amount of assets in return for their franchise player.

However given Troy Tulowitzki’s injury history it’s understandable as to why the New York Mets may be hesitant to pay such a premium, despite their desperation for a star talent.
