I am back to give you all of the bowl picks against the spread. This year, I am going to do each bowl individually so you have all of the information you need to make your wager or pick, whatever the case may be.

Just in case you missed anything:

Zaxby’s Heart Of Dallas Bowl at Dallas, TX:

Illinois:

Wins: vs. Youngstown State(28-17), vs. Western Kentucky(42-34), vs. Texas State(42-35), vs. Minnesota(28-24), vs. Penn State(16-14), at Northwestern(47-33)

Losses: at Washington(19-44), at Nebraska(14-45), vs. Purdue(27-38), at Wisconsin(28-38), at Ohio State(14-55), vs. Iowa(14-30)

Record vs. Bowl Teams: 3-5

Louisiana Tech(-5,5):

Wins: at Louisiana-Lafayette(48-20), at North Texas(42-21), vs. UTEP(55-3), vs. UTSA(27-20), at Southern Mississippi(31-20), vs. Western Kentucky(59-10), at UAB(40-24), vs. Rice(76-31)

Losses: at Oklahoma(16-48), vs. Northwestern State(27-30), at Auburn(17-45), at Old Dominion(27-30 OT), at Marshall(23-26)

Common Opponents:

Western Kentucky: Illinois beat the Hilltoppers by eight in Champaign. La Tech beat them by 49 in Ruston. Advantage: LOUISIANA TECH

Prediction:

Illinois had one of the tougher Big Ten(14) schedules, and it did them no favors. They had to beat Penn State and Northwestern just to get to a bowl game. The Illini played better down the stretch, and played better with Oklahoma State transfer Wes Lunt at QB.

Louisiana Tech had some games where they looked absolutely unstoppable, such as the Western Kentucky game and the Rice game. Then there is the loss to Northwestern State. That said, they really didn’t play that badly in that game. Northwestern State is just a very good team. The Purdue team that Illinois lost to might not be better than the Demons.

Everything in this game points to Louisiana Tech. The Illini have had trouble against good running backs this year, and Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Dixon is not too far removed from Ameer Abdullah and Melvin Gordon.

Pick: Louisiana Tech
