Happy New Year to all my loyal readers! Tonight, there are only two games on the NBA docket, so you are going to have to think outside the box a little to bring home some money.

Here are my FanDuel lineups for January 1st:

Point Guards:
Bargain:
Ray McCallum, Kings ($3,500): McCallum has become relevant as the backup to Darren Collison with Ramon Sessions out. Sessions is out again tonight, so expect McCallum to see around 20 minutes again. He has averaged 16 fantasy points a game with Sessions out, and with a very light day, if you want a stud, you have to go cheap. Really cheap. Somewhere. This is one of the better bets.
Worth The Cost:
Ty Lawson, Nuggets ($8,900): Lawson is the best option in a thin field at PG today. Everyone else carries considerably more risk. Lawson has averaged 39.5 fantasy points per game over his last four games.
Risky Play:
Zach LaVine($5,000) and Mo Williams($5,500) Timberwolves: LaVine is still the starter, but they have alternated as the high scorer at the position for the team over the last four games. Participate in this coin flip at your own risk.
My Lineups:
A: McCallum and LaVine ($8,500)
B: Lawson and LaVine ($13,900)
Next: What To Do At SG?

Shooting Guards:
Bargain:
Arron Afflalo, Nuggets ($5,000): Afflalo has not been as good as he was earlier in the year, but on a light night, he is one of the better options. Even at his 17 points that he has averaged over the last week, he is the second best option. That’s how weak SG is.
Worth The Cost:
Jimmy Butler, Bulls ($9,300): Butler had a miserable game against Brooklyn in his last game, but that was last year. Seriously, there isn’t really another suitable player at SG, so if you want any kind of production, you have to go with the Butler.
Risky Play:
Ben McLemore, Kings ($4,600): He is starting. He is the last option that is doing so at SG tonight. He is listed here because he is a more risky option than Afflalo, but also has more upside.
My Lineups:
A: Butler and Afflalo ($14,300):
B: Butler and McLemore ($13,900)
Next: Slightly More Options At SF

Small Forwards:
Bargain:
Shabazz Muhammad, Timberwolves ($6,600): Muhammad bounced back in a big way on Tuesday, dropping 30 real points on the Jazz. He still remains a bargain at his price.
Worth The Cost:
Rudy Gay, Kings ($8,800): Gay had a miserable game on Tuesday, but the whole Kings team did. He broke his streak of 13 consecutive 30 fantasy point games. There is a great chance that he starts another one tonight against the beat up Timberwolves.
Risky Play:
Mike Dunleavy, Bulls ($4,400): Dunleavy has racked up 57.5 fantasy points over his last two games. That said, he has been starting all year, and has come nowhere close to this type of production. He didn’t have that many points in the six games prior to these two combined. It’s too small of a sample size to say he has turned a corner, but with limited options tonight, he might be worth a shot.
My Lineups:
A: Muhammad and Dunleavy ($11,000)
B: Muhammad and Andrew Wiggins ($12,300): Wiggins has been over 30 fantasy points in three of his last four games. He is worth a shot tonight.
Next: Several Good PF Options

Power Forwards:
Bargain:
Thaddeus Young, Timberwolves ($6,500): Young has topped 25 fantasy points in four straight games, and six of his last seven. He is playing better with Corey Brewer out of the picture for whatever reason. He is no longer as much of a risk, especially considering that he has topped the 30 mark in four of those games.
Worth The Cost:
Pau Gasol, Bulls ($8,600): Gasol has quietly topped 30 fantasy points in six straight games. This is about the level you should expect him at for the rest of the season. Tonight, there are very few players who are a lock to get you 30 fantasy points. You have to take it, no matter the cost.
Risky Play:
Kenneth Faried, Nuggets ($6,600): Everyone jumped on Faried – he was over 50% owned in both big $1 and $2 tourneys on Tuesday – and he felt it. He left the game with “dead legs.” I guess the good thing to take away from this is that is wasn’t just another funky rotation from Shaw. There was actually a reason for Faried not playing more. With a day off to rest, he should be good to go. Will he pick up where he left off before Tuesday? That’s anyone’s guess.
My Lineups:
A: Gasol and Faried ($15,200)
B: Gasol and Young ($15,100)
Next: The Best Option Of The Night Is At C

Center:
Bargain:
Timofey Mozgov, Nuggets ($4,700): Mozgov is over 20 fantasy points in three of his last four games. That passes for a good option tonight.
Worth The Cost:
DeMarcus Cousins, Kings ($10,800): Just like the rest of the team, Cousins was off against the Celtics on Tuesday. The fact remains that he is the only guy tonight that is a solid threat to put up 50 fantasy points. When you consider that 250 points could put you in the money tonight, you almost have to find a way to get him on your team.
Risky Play:
Gorgui Dieng, Timberwolves ($6,700): Dieng has failed to hit 40 fantasy points combined over the last two games after posting back-to-back 40 point games last week. He also has to bang around with Cousins tonight, so he isn’t a really good option.
My Lineups:
A: Cousins ($10,800)
B: Mozgov ($4,700)
