If you have followed fantasy football for any length of time, you have probably picked up or drafted a player at some point only to be completely disappointed and disillusioned and wind up dropping him or wasting a roster spot on him for entirely too long. As I often say, fantasy sports is all about timing. And to quote my old friend Kenny Rogers, “You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk away, know when to run.” You also have to know when to cut ties and when to forgive old wrongs.

For some of us this year, if you were able to forgive some wrongs and pick up Jonathan Stewart for your fantasy playoff run, you were rewarded with four pretty solid outings that quite possibly vaulted your team just enough to find you in the good graces of your league’s championship game. So the question we are faced with now, is J-Stew legit? Is this the real J-Stew, or is the real J-Stew the one who has disappointed us for the last few years?

Well just for fun, I took Stewart’s week 13-16 fantasy outputs as recorded in ESPN standard leagues and pulled his average from those games, then extrapolated that over 16 games which gave Stewart a total of 172.8 fantasy points. That total would have been good enough to have him finish as the #9 overall running back in ESPN standard scoring leagues. That certainly tells us what we already know, and that is that he is a very talented back. The question that remains is can he stay healthy enough for 16 games that he can produce like he did in weeks 13-16 of this season?

That, unfortunately, is the question that we here at Fantasy CPR can simply not answer. What we can tell you is that he will definitely be worth a mid to late round flier as a possibility to finish as a top ten running back for your fantasy team next year. Also, for you dynasty league players, I would consider floating a simple offer out there and see what his market is. I think that if Stewart can stay healthy, he can definitely repeat what we saw in the final 4 weeks of this fantasy season for 2015.
