Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy winner this season, and he is proving that he was worthy of the award on Thursday night against the Florida State Seminoles in the Rose Bowl. The Oregon Ducks have come out firing on all cylinders, and are not looking back.
The Ducks’ star quarterback extended his team’s lead over Jameis Winston and the Seminoles to 52-10 with a beautiful 23-yard touchdown run.
Florida State has looked extremely nervous, and their defense wasn’t prepared to go up against an offense like Oregon has. The Seminoles offense has looked terrible as well, and the turnovers have been coming in full force in the second half. It has been an ugly performance for Florida State, but Mariota and the Ducks have shown just how talented they really are.
Take a look at the 23-yard touchdown that Mariota ran in to extend the blowout.
Obviously this is exactly what the Seminoles knew they couldn’t allow coming into this game against Mariota and the Ducks’ offense. They have one of the most potent offenses that college football has seen, and their quarterback is the main reason for that.
Mariota is expected to be the top draft pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, and he is helping the chances of that with his Rose Bowl performance. Not only does he have an excellent arm, he also has the ability to make big plays with his legs. This isn’t how many expected the game to go, but it has been impressive for any football fan to watch.
