Chip Kelly made it a habit to go for two after their first touchdown of the game when he was the head coach at Oregon and Mark Helfrich took a page out of his predecessor by attempting a two-point conversion after Royce Freeman’s rushing touchdown gave the Ducks a 6-3 lead over the Seminoles.
Oregon has gone for the two-point try on six occasions this season, converting four of them, so it hasn’t been a staple of Helfrich’s philosophy as it was for Kelly, but big games like the Rose Bowl require bold decisions.
Taylor Alie threw the pass to Christian French who ran the ball into the end zone and took a nasty hit int he process but that extra point could prove to loom large as this game transpires and Florida State could be forced to pull out their best two-point conversion play to make up the difference.
