The Rose Bowl between the Oregon Ducks and Florida State Seminoles is certainly living up to expectations as the two teams are providing great drama in the first semifinal game of the first ever College Football Playoff.

Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston dominated the headlines for the Rose Bowl and deservedly so as the last two Heisman Trophy winners and the first meeting between Heisman winners since Tim Tebow’s Florida team played Sam Bradford’ Oklahoma in the 2008 BCS National Championship Game.

However, the player who has provided the play of the game so far has been Oregon tight end Evan Baylis who unleashed the truck stick on the Seminoles defense, breaking a number of tackles after hauling in a pass from Mariota.

I really wish John Madden could have been on the call for this play because he would have said “boom” about 37 times and it would have been glorious. This is the stuff that Mike Ditka, Mark Bavaro and other tight ends with legendary truck stick capabilities would be proud of.

Baylis picked up 30 yards on the play and two plays later the Ducks got a touchdown from Royce Freeman, his second of the day, to give Oregon a 25-13 lead.

You can watch the Rose Bowl on ESPN and see if Oregon can hang onto their 39-20 third-quarter lead.
