2. Atlanta Falcons

Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons were unable to get the job done against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17 of the regular season, and they were eliminated from playoff contention.

John Fox would immediately be an upgrade over former head coach Mike Smith, and he would fit in with the roster that the Falcons have put together. They have a very high-powered offense, but they don’t have a good defense. Atlanta finished 32nd against the pass defensively, and just 21st against the run.

There aren’t many teams that can boast about having talent at the wide receiver position like Julio Jones and Roddy White, and that would give Fox the same type of offensive firepower that he had in Denver. Defensively, he would have a lot of work to do and the Falcons need to make a move or two prior to next season.

Atlanta likely wouldn’t be Fox’s first choice, but it would be a very nice fit for them if they can improve their defense this offseason. They are looking for a coach that can take them to the next level, and Fox has proven that he can be that type of a coach throughout his career.
