Detroit Lions fan David Morian decide to be brave and give his team a boost by predicting the outcome of Super Bowl XLIX — with the Lions winning. Never mind that the Lions have never played in a Super Bowl, have only won one playoff game in the Super Bowl era and have only one winning season on the century.

That’s right, the century.

If you watched the NFL this season, or opened up a paper to see who made it to Super Bowl XLIX, Morian’s prediction didn’t turn out so well. Morian isn’t giving up, he’s updated his tattoo for next year.

Second time’s the charm right? If not, then certainly the third time. It looks like there’s room. Although, it could get ridiculous real quick and start looking like the infamous Browns quarterback name jersey.

Morian originally got the tattoo in the summer of 2014, going on to a Detroit-area radio station to do it. The radio hosts initially tried to talk him out of it, but Morian had already made his decision, having mulled it over for a few months.

Even then, Morian had already planned to change the dates if the Lions didn’t win. Not only that, but the radio station WRIF plans to pay for the adjustment every year they need to. Morian said he is confident that the Lions will win the Super Bowl. Eventually. He’s probably hoping it will happen before his entire leg is covered in new dates.

Some good news though, Lions legend Barry Sanders thinks Detroit is close to making it to the Super Bowl, despite being the only team to exist for every Super Bowl, but never play in one. He may be right. The Lions had a very competitive season in 2014 and should have most of their pieces intact for next season. They finally have a legitimate second threat receiver in Golden Tate and quarterback Matt Stafford seems to be getting it together. The main concern for the Lions is whether they’ll be able to keep Ndamukong Suh, a big part of their top defense. Suh will potentially be a free agent next season if the Lions can’t work something out.
