Buffalo Bills expected to pursue Darrelle Revis
By Evan Massey
The Buffalo Bills are expected to pursue New England Patriots star cornerback Darrelle Revis in free agency this coming offseason.
Darrelle Revis was a huge acquisition for the New England Patriots prior to the 2014 regular season getting underway, and he has been a big part of their Super Bowl run this season. He is going to be a free agent this coming offseason, and reports broke that both the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills are going to make runs at him.
New York would be a very interesting fit, especially with that being the team he first became a star with.

That being said, Buffalo jumping into the mix makes free agency an even more intriguing option for Revis. Rex Ryan coached Revis in New York, and he is now the head coach of the Bills. Buffalo already has a stacked defense, and adding one of the best corners to play the game would be the final piece to their puzzle.
At 29 years of age, Revis is still a threat on any defense that he plays on. The Patriots didn’t see him pick off a lot of passes, but he was still a playmaker in the secondary and did an excellent job against opposing teams’ top targets.
He finished the 2014 regular season with two interceptions to go along with 47 tackles, a forced fumble, and he also broke up 14 passes. Those numbers speak for themselves, and he is going to command a fairly hefty contract from whoever ends up signing him this offseason. New England would likely to bring him back, but there are going to be plenty of suitors lining up offering big money.
Buffalo took a major step forward this season, and finished with a 9-7 record and barely missed the AFC playoffs. Upgrading from Doug Marrone to Ryan is going to be big for the Bills, but they do need to find a new starting quarterback due to Kyle Orton’s retirement.
Hearing that the Bills are serious enough about the upcoming offseason to pursue Revis is eye-opening. They know that they are close to getting back into playoff contention, but they are still a move or two away. If they are willing to open up the checkbook this offseason, they could very well land the pieces they need to get over the hump next year.
