The Buffalo Bills lost out on the Josh McCown sweepstakes, but there are other options out there for them to consider — like Matt Cassel from the Minnesota Vikings.

More from Buffalo Bills

Matt Cassel has bounced around to three NFL teams in his career and he may make it a fourth before he calls it a career. There are still years left in the tank for Cassel, but the emergence of Teddy Bridgewater in Minnesota has forced him out of a starting job and it may be time for Cassel to try his hand at starting one more time in his career.

According to Mike Garafolo from FOX Sports, should the Minnesota Vikings look to move Matt Cassel this offseason then the Buffalo Bills may be a team to keep an eye on when it comes to acquiring him.

Of course, there are plenty of other options out there for the Bills other than Matt Cassel. He’s no doubt a solid option for a team like the Bills who are looking to get a veteran to segue into a new era, but he’s hardly the only option.

Rex Ryan has experience with Michael Vick from his days in New York and there has always been interest in Buffalo in Vick — granted it was from old ownership. There’s also Brian Hoyer to consider, as the Browns outbidding the Bills for Josh McCown means the end of Brian Hoyer in Cleveland.

It’s not a deep quarterback market this year but there are options out there for the Bills if they want one. They may have to get creative in their pursuit of a quarterback, and trading for Matt Cassel could be something that ends up paying off well in the end.
