NFL Rumors: DeMarco Murray might give Cowboys a hometown discount
By Josh Hill
The Dallas Cowboys are letting running back DeMarco Murray test free agency but that could result in hometown discount.
DeMarco Murray is the NFL rushing champion but he may end up playing next season in a new uniform — which is unprecedented. Never before has a player won the rushing title only to start the next season on a new team. Murray is facing that possibility but there is no guarantee that he’s going to be leaving Dallas.

According to Ed Werder from ESPN, so long as the Cowboys stay in the ballpark of the offers that Murray is getting, he may just give them a slight discount to re-sign.
Murray is going to be getting offers from teams like the Colts, Seahawks and others this offseason but there is no clearcut list of suitors yet. Tennessee, Miami and Arizona could all look at Murray too, but none of those place set him on fire in terms of being a Super Bowl contender in 2015.
That’s what Murray is looking for, but he’s looking to get paid too. But he’s making it clear that he’s not going all Ndamukong Suh on this and seeing out top dollar. If the Cowboys at least come close to offering him what other teams are, he’d be wise to just take a slight paycut from what’s on the market and return to the team.
Nothing indicates that Murray is going to give such a discount, but there should be plenty of action on Murray once he officially hits the open market.
