The former Barcelona manager was recently linked with Manuel Pellegrini’s job after City lost to Liverpool, leaving them five points behind Chelsea, having played one more game. Pellegrini also drew stick for his tactics against Liverpool as well as in his side’s 2-1 loss to Barcelona last week.
Guardiola, alongside the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone were tipped as the successors to Pellegrini. Guardiola however, has denied these rumours as he’s happy with the Bavarians.
“Of course I’ll stay here. I haven’t had a contract offer and I am not waiting for a contract offer from anyone else. I’m happy here at Bayern – this is an outstanding club,” Guardiola said. “I want to fulfil my contract and do my job well, that is all I am thinking about at the moment.”
Guardiola’s contract runs out in 2016 but the Spaniard believes he could stay in Germany for even longer.
“I still have a year and a half left on my contract. We will sit together in the summer and then we’ll see how things go. I can stay in this club five or six years even. This also depends on the players. I’m not the most important thing for the club.”
Pep Guardiola won four titles in his debut season at Bayern Munich but fell short of the Champions League, with his side getting knocked out 5-0 on aggregate by Real Madrid in the semifinals. He is currently on course for a second straight Bundesliga title and will be hoping to win the Champions League this season.
