Which teams have had the most disappointing NCAA tournament performances since 2000?

As the 2015 NCAA tournament kicks into high gear on Thursday, it’s the perfect time to look back through the event’s history.

More from March Madness

While you’re putting the finishing touches on those brackets, it might be helpful to remember that not every high seed ends up living up to the hype. In fact, quite often teams that have had phenomenal regular seasons wind up flopping come tournament time.

This year, traditional powers like Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, Villanova and Gonzaga have had outstanding seasons, but that doesn’t mean much when the craziness of March Madness arrives.

As we have seen time and time again, teams with high hopes don’t always wind up achieving their goals. It is only a matter of time before a 16-seed finally knocks off a No. 1 seed, and seven 15-seeds have taken out No. 2 seeds in the past.

Who will be this year’s biggest disappointment?

Let’s take a look at the five most disappointing NCAA tournament performances since 2000.
