Live scoring updates for Texas Southern vs. Arizona in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
The road to the Final Four officially gets underway Thursday afternoon, when the field of 64 teams begins their march to the NCAA Men’s Final Four at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. For some teams, the march to the championship is a matter of destiny, whereas others view the dance as the possible Cinderella crashing the ball.
Of the opening match-ups on Thursday, perhaps the most lopsided match-up will occur when the #15 seed Texas Southern University Tigers take on the #2 Arizona Wildcats in Portland, Oregon.

The Tigers of Texas Southern vaulted into the tournament by winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament over the Southern Jaguars 62-58, putting together a 22-12 overall record and a 16-2 record in conference. Overall, the Tigers come into the tournament ranked 156th in the nation in points scored with 68.2 per game, and ranked 197th in points allowed with an average of 67.4 per game.
During the regular season, Texas Southern faced just two ranked teams. The Tigers dropped a December 15th meeting with the then #8 Gonzaga Bulldogs, but came back five days later to claim their signature win of the season, beating the #25 Michigan State Spartans 71-64 in double-overtime on December 20th.
Meanwhile, the Arizona Wildcats come into the tournament with the #2 seed in the West after finishing the regular season ranked #5 in the country. A perennial powerhouse, the Wildcats stormed into the tournament by winning both the Pac-12 Tournament and regular season championship. Additionally, Arizona ranked 22nd in the nation with a 76.4 PPG average on offense, and 15th in the country defensively with a 58.6 mark.
Overall, Arizona faced four ranked teams throughout the season, winning all four of them. That included two wins over conference runner-up Utah (ranked #8 and #13 at the time), and individual wins over #15 San Diego State and #9 Gonzaga.
Having never played before, Texas Southern doesn’t stand much of a chance, but they are hoping Mike Davis’ penchant for cinderella runs while the coach of Indiana rubs off on them and keeps them in the game.
The game will be broadcast on TNT at 2:10 Eastern Time, 11:10 Pacific.
