UCLA executed a perfect set-piece for a beautiful 3-point shot by Alford against UAB.

On Saturday, the UCLA Bruins attempted to quiet the haters who said they had no place in the NCAA Tournament following the season they had. That was the topic of debate entering their controversial game against SMU, but the Bruins could care less what you think and only want to win.

Through the first half of their game against UAB in the Round of 32, the score remained relatively close. However, UCLA seemed to be in control of the game for the most part. In the dying seconds, it looked like UAB was going to go into halftime down by just six points.

Bryce Alford had other plans though.

Alford was set up under the basket, and sprung up through several UAB players to the top of the circle to get wide open for a pass. Then this happened:

Took the elevator to the top floor and delivered.

The great set-play gave UCLA a 46-37 lead going into the half. Still, it remains anyone’s game.

This game had a lot of intrigue going into it. Both teams completed big upsets in the round of 64. UCLA upset 6th seeded SMU, while UAB upset 3rd seeded Iowa State. Coincidentally enough, both of those games had a final score of 60-59.

The winner of this match will go on to play the winner of 7th seed Iowa and 2nd seed Gonzaga. That match will be played Sunday at 7:10 P.M.
