UNI’s Ali Farokhmanesh trolls Kansas fans (Video)
Former UNI standout guard, Ali Farokhmanesh asks Kansas fans if they remember his famous shot back in 2010 that knocked the Jayhawks out of the tournament.
Back in 2010, Kansas suffered one of the biggest upsets in the history of their program at the hand of Ali Farokhmanesh. The former sharp shooter for Northern Iowa, who swished a brazen pull up three with just seconds remaining that stunned the Jayhawks in the round of 32.
Just take a moment to go back to that magical time when March Madness was truly mad.
Kansas fans are probably still not over the pain that was felt from this dagger of a three from Farokhmanesh caused them. So what better way to ring in this year’s tournament than to have him interview Kansas fans and ask them about the infamous shot in Jayhawk basketball history.
Kansas will go up against Northern Iowa’s Missouri Valley Conference partner, Wichita State tomorrow evening. Last year, the Shockers were the favorites against Kentucky in the round of 32, but ended up losing, which marked their first loss of the season, knocking them out of the tournament. This year, they are on the other side of the story, as Kansas is a heavily favored No. 2 seed and they are just a measly No. 7 seed.
Northern Iowa and Kansas would love to meet up in this years tournament. Partly because that would mean Kansas would have gotten past the undefeated Kentucky team. And also this would mean that UNI would be taking its first trip to the Final Four in the history of their program.
But more importantly, Kansas would finally get their shot at taking Northern Iowa down. Their pain hasn’t really subsided since 2010, and knocking UNI out of the tournament might be just the medicine they need. Luckily for Kansas, Ali Farokhmanesh has since graduated and won’t be suiting up to play this Sunday.
But don’t count out the Panthers just yet. They were the Missouri Valley conference tournament champions this year and are looking to do some major damage in this years tournament.
