Virginia’s Darion Atkins: ‘We played like a bunch of pu**ies’
By Jack Crosby
Virginia’s Darion Atkins was less than pleased following the loss to Michigan State on Sunday afternoon
The Virginia Cavaliers are no longer in the NCAA Tournament following their game on Sunday. The ACC champs drew the unfortunate draw of having to play the Michigan State Spartans, who are near flawless around this time of year every season. Well, senior forward Darion Atkins definitely laid all the cards on the table following the loss.
Obviously emotional after realizing that his collegiate career had come to an abrupt end, Atkins came right out and noted that they maybe could have played the Spartans from the Big Ten a little more physically.
That’s not all he let out, though.
With this being his last game, he went right out of his way to call out his teammates, noting that he might have wanted to keep the season going a little more than some of the others.
Now we always have to remember in these instances that this is still a college kid who is trying to swallow a lot right now. As a senior, his Virginia career is now over and that’s tough for all athletes to take in. As for the first comment, Virginia could have maybe played the Spartans a little tougher, so he’s not necessarily wrong in that regard.
Nonetheless, Atkins and the Cavaliers are going home and the Spartans are moving on…again.
