The Eagles have been getting a lot of headlines in the offseason, from trading LeSean McCoy, to Nick Foles and then bringing in Tim Tebow for a workout. That’s right, the oft-maligned quarterback who was widely thought to be out of the league. As soon as that report came out, multiple reports followed that Tebow might be “fixed”, that he had been working with Tom Brady’s personal coach to throw a spiral, among other things.
On Monday, Chip Kelly told NFL Total Access that he’s always been a fan of Tebow and he wanted to see what he could do. He also added that the Eagles brought in multiple other quarterbacks as well, while making the obvious point that no one wants to talk about Thad Lewis or Terrelle Pryor, two other quarterbacks brought in for private workouts.
Kelly likes mobile quarterbacks, which is one thing Tebow definitely is. Pryor is too, for comparison. He also likes to do his homework, as he said. Bringing in the players and having them work out simply gives Kelly’s team the information they need if they have to make a decision on such a player in the future.
For now, most people assume that Sam Bradford will be the starting quarterback for the Eagles, since their previous starter, Nick Foles was traded away. However, there’s still the draft to consider and the possibility that the Eagles will find another quarterback there.
Nevertheless, Kelly still sounds open to bringing Tebow on board if the thinks it’s the right fit.
