Live scoring tracker for the NCAA Tournament action featuring the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Kentucky Wildcats.

One of the better matchups of the Sweet 16 is between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Kentucky Wildcats. After an impressive win against the Maryland Terrapins, the Mountaineers will now get the chance to play the nation’s best team. The Kentucky Wildcats are fresh off a win against the Cincinnati Bearcats, however, that game was closer at one point than many had anticipated.

For West Virginia, Juwan Staten is one of the best point guards in the league. Averaging 14 points and five rebounds, Staten is the tone-setter for this offense. However, one of the best things about this offense is their ability to rebound the basketball. Sophomore Devin Williams is an absolute menace down low, as his 6-foot-8, 255-pound gives him the ability to bully defenders. The best thing about the Mountaineers is their full-court press defense. Their intensity on the defensive side of the ball is amongst the best in the nation.

Kentucky doesn’t have a consistent No. 1 scorer, but they are without a doubt the most talented team in the nation. Filled with five-star players and future NBA studs, the Wildcats are extremely talented, and ousting them will be quite difficult. Karl Anthony Towns, Aaron & Andrew Harrison, and Willie Cauley-Stein are just four players on this team who are extremely difficult to defend.

If the Mountaineers can force Kentucky into turnovers and they score the basketball when needed, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if West Virginia actually pulled off the upset. Bob Huggins is very familiar with Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament and although he will have a tough task on Thursday, he is definitely the coach who would be wise enough to pull off this upset.
