However, Pitino might agree when I say it is a mild surprise to see this year’s Louisville team in the Sweet 16 after the dismissal of one of their best players in Chris Jones.

Despite the loss of Jones, this team avoided the upset bid by UC Irvine in the second round to escape with a two-point win and controlled their Round of 32 game against popular Final Four pick in No. 5 Northern Iowa to get here.

They’ll take on No. 8 NC State who is the second-highest seed remaining in the NCAA Tournament after the Wolfpack upset No. 1 Villanova in the Round of 32 after they needed a buzzer beater in their second round game against LSU to advance in their opening game.

Whoever emerges victorious in the contest will meet the winner of No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 7 Michigan State with that winner headed to the Final Four.
