This border war should be a good test for Dawn Staley’s South Carolina club considering the pace at which North Carolina coach Sylvia Hatchell likes to run up and down the court. It is also a rematch of last year’s Sweet 16 game where the Tar Heels upset the Gamecocks,

Hatchell was not on the sideline for that game as she was fighting leukemia and some of the key contributors from that UNC team aren’t here or healthy this time, but it still serves as a motivating factor for South Carolina.

“I’ve been waiting for this game, waiting for revenge. The time is now,” South Carolina guard Khadijah Sessions said, via ESPN.com. “Just ready for me and my teammates to prove what we should have proved last year.”

While North Carolina likes to run and push the ball, South Carolina likes to pick their spots when to change the tempo which should result in a classic chess match between Staley and Hall of Famer, Hatchell.

The winner of the chess match will advance to the Elite Eight and take on the winner of the game between No. 2 Florida State and No. 3 Arizona State.
