Joey Logano’s hot start to the season continued as he captured the pole for Sunday’s STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

After having the best season of his career last year, Joey Logano is having another great start to the season in 2015. He won the Daytona 500 to begin the year and has finished Top-10 in all five races thus far.

Friday, Logano knocked off another achievement as he won the pole for Sunday’s STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia.

The track is one of the smallest in the Sprint Cup Series and it’s hard to get separation from each other with such a small track.

However, wrecks and pit stops make it easy for drivers to fall several laps back.

Logano won’t have to worry about anyone in front of him once the race begins Sunday, as he will be leading the field.

Logano was able to beat out Ryan Newman and Martin Truex Jr. in the final round of knockout qualifying. Logano finished with a speed of 98.461 mph, which was good enough to take his first pole of the season.

With Newman and Truex starting in second and third, teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson will sit fourth and fifth to complete the Top-5 once the green flag drops on Sunday.

Their can certainly be arguments made for both Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick as to who has had the best start to the season thus far. Both sit atop the points standings list.

Both have also earned spots already in the chase with their victories. However, Harvick only had enough on the track to grab to the 17th position for Sunday’s race.

Joey Logano had his breakout year last year behind the wheel and now he looks to be going hard after his first Sprint Cup Championship this year.
