Live scoring tracker for the NIT championship game between the Stanford Cardinal and the Miami Hurricanes.

A champion will be crowned tonight when the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal take on the No. 2 Miami Hurricanes in the championship game of the NIT.

More from March Madness

Both programs built some momentum for next season with their run in the NIT Tournament after they failed to make the NCAA Tournament despite winning 20-plus games this season and the winner tonight will end the season with a win, which is important, no matter the tournament.

Stanford lost to Utah in the second round of the Pac-12 conference tournament and likely needed to win the tournament or at the very least advance to the final to earn a NCAA Tournament invite, but they’ve played well in the NIT with wins against UC Davis and Rhode Island in the first two rounds.

They had to sweat out a three-point win against Vanderbilt and then beat Old Dominion by six on Tuesday to advance to the NIT championship. Chasson Randle scored 24 points in the semifinal win to set the program’s all-time scoring mark and can extend his lead in his final game in a Stanford uniform tonight.

Miami began their NIT run with a four-point win against North Carolina Central in the first round that set the stage for a few more close wins for the Hurricanes. They knocked off Alabama by seven in the second round, beat Richmond by two and beat Temple by three in the semifinal game to advance to their date with Stanford.

They have had to play the last three games without point guard Angel Rodriguez as he fights his way back from a wrist injury, but managed to survive and have the chance to end their season as champions tonight.
