The Wisconsin Badgers have had an insane amount of fun with NCAA stenographers during the NCAA Tournament and the Wisconsin Court Reporters Association approves.

It all started when the Badgers’ three top players, Frank Kaminsky, Nigel Hayes and Sam Dekker were amazed at the machine and the work of an NCAA stenographer before they entered their post-game press conference after beating Coastal Carolina.

This led to sophomore forward Nigel Hayes having some serious fun giving the stenographer some tough words at the start of one of his answers to a reporter’s question. After being asked about his three point shooting, Hayes responded with this gem:
"“Before I answer that question, I would like to say a few words, cattywampus, onomatopoeia and antidisestablishmentarianism. (Laughs). Now, back to your question. It was just a lot of hard work, teammates giving me great confidence, and when you play with players that are very unselfish like the two next to me who also give you that confidence and involve the team, it’s a lot easier to get things done.”"
When asked why he said those words, Hayes explained:
"“Well, the wonderful young lady over there, I think her job title is a stenographer, yes, okay. And she does an amazing job of typing words, sometimes if words are not in her dictionary, maybe if I say soliloquy right now, she may have to work a little bit harder to type that word, or quandary, zephyr, Xylophone, things like that, that make her job really interesting.”"
This hilarious incident built Wisconsin’s reputation to make fans laugh as has already been documented by Frank “The Tank” Kaminsky. After defeating the 2-seed Arizona Wildcats in the Elite Eight, 1-seed Wisconsin moved on to their second straight Final Four and will take on undefeated Kentucky on Saturday in Indianapolis.
While Wisconsin may have frustrated NCAA stenographers, the Wisconsin Association of Court Reporters wants the Badgers basketball team to know there’s no harsh feelings, and they wished them luck in a genius way.

Using stenotype, the language of stenographers, they spelled “Go Badgers” wishing Nigel Hayes and the team luck in the Final Four.
Wisconsin needs all the support they can get, and they’ll have a lot of it, when they face John Calipari’s undefeated Kentucky Wildcats in the national semi-final game on Saturday. Wisconsin defeated Coastal Carolina, Oregon, North Carolina and Arizona to get where they are now and don’t be surprised if they keep their championship run alive and hand Kentucky their only loss of the season.
