The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women will be returning to the national championship game after their Final Four win over South Carolina

More from March Madness

The NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four is taking place place on Sunday, and to get things started we could not have asked for a better game. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took on the South Carolina Gamecocks in a battle of No. 1 seeds, and when all was said and it, it will be the Fighting Irish that will be making their way back to the National Championship Game following a brutal 66-65 win.

This one was far from easy for the Irish women, although they made it look easy for a while.

Notre Dame took a 32-28 lead into the locker room, and they extended it from there in the second half a bit. However, much like they did in their Elite 8 match up against Florida State, South Carolina fired back and took the lead with under a minute to go.

The Irish, though, were able to get a bucket from Madison Cable with 18 seconds to go that eventually secured the win. South Carolina had a final chance with the clock ticking down, but Tiffany Mitchell couldn’t the three to fall and the Gamecocks season came to an end.

Here is a look at the NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket following Notre Dame advancing to the title game.
