Rich Rodriguez has become one of the best coaches in the Pac-12 in recent years, but it’s sometimes fan interaction that make Arizona faithful love him.

After basically being run out of the Michigan Wolverines program five years ago, Rich Rodriguez has found a new home with the Arizona Wildcats. The 51-year-old head coach was one of the biggest names on the marker before the Wildcats picked him up in 2012, and they haven’t regretted that decision ever since.

The head coach has posted a 26-14 overall record in three years with the Wildcats, including a 10-win campaign in 2014 in which the Wildcats were 7-2 in conference play.

Arizona has a lot to look forward to on the football field as the team is returning freshman quarterback Anu Solomon and fellow freshman running back Nick Wilson.

At the end of the team’s spring game on Friday evening, head coach Rich Rodriguez made his way into the stands and gave the fans something pretty cool. He gave them the ability to call a play that could potentially score a touchdown from inside the five yard-line.

It was pretty cool to see the smiles on these fans faces when one of their own called the correct play to allow the offense to score a touchdown. This fan interaction is something that might be a little rare in athletics nowadays, but Rodriguez embraced the crowd and looked like he had a great time letting the Arizona faithful throw out some plays of their own.

Some of these plays were even better than the ones he called when he was the head coach of Michigan. OK, maybe that was a little harsh.

Well done, Rich Rod.
