Georgia has another quarterback competition this spring with Huston Mason graduating and for the first time since Aaron Murray and Zach Mettenberger competed for the job in 2010 has there been as much uncertainty at the game’s most important position.
Brice Ramsey is the front-runner for the starting job to run the offense of first-year offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and is looking to separate himself from Faton Bauta and Jacob Park on Saturday. Helping his cause will be any wide receiver other than Malcolm Mitchell and Justin Scott-Wesley stepping up and making some big receptions.
And the players snapping the ball to Ramsey and the quarterbacks figure to be under the microscope with former top recruit Isaiah Wynn competing senior Hunter Long for the starting center spot vacated by David Andrews.
On the defensive side of the ball, the battle to fill the two inside linebacker spots in Jeremy Pruitt’s defense sees Reggie Carter, Tim Kimbrough and UAB transfer Jake Ganus competing for two spots. Defensive back is another area of concern as the team looks to replace Damian Swann.
