Miami commit throws up ‘The U’ on Seminoles logo
Miami commit Al Blades Jr. threw up the famous “The U” sign as he stood at mid-field of Doak Campbell Stadium.
The rivalry between Miami and Florida State has long been one of the best in the ACC and College Football.

At one point both teams were a powerhouse, with each claiming multiple national titles.
The Hurricanes have since fallen off a bit, but they have landed a commit with a name familiar to many Hurricanes fans.
2018 class cornerback Al Blades Jr. has verbally committed to the Hurricanes. His father, Al Blades Sr. played for the Hurricanes as well.
While on a visit to Florida State, Blades took a chance to show his pride for the Hurricanes as he threw up the infamous “The U” hand gesture right on the midfield logo at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Talk about rubbing it in the face of a rival.
If this had happened in a game, it would be one of those routines where the two teams get bunched up together in the middle of the field with coaches separating them as they pushed and shoved each other.
In fact, it’s probably a good thing that he did it while nobody was around or he might have incited a riot in Tallahassee.
It’s a cheap heel tactic usually reserved for professional wrestlers. If this was wrestling, Blades would have hopped in a limo as it’s wheels squealed out of the stadium as the Seminoles chased him off.
The rivalry between the two schools is nothing new, but now a recruit still years away from graduating and committing is turning it up a new notch.
What’s gonna happen next, a FSU commit going to Miami doing the chop right on Hurricanes midfield logo?
At the end of the day, Blades Jr. is a young kid and young kids do dumb things. It’s probably not worth getting too fired up over.
