Kobe Bryant jumps to LeBron James’ defense on Twitter
Kobe Bryant jumped to LeBron James’ defense in his latest Twitter rant.
Kobe Bryant is probably the last person one would expect to lead a social media crusade in defense of LeBron James, but that is exactly how the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard and future Hall of Famer is spending his Wednesday.
With the NBA regular season coming to a conclusion tonight, the Lakers being out of playoff contention essentially since the season began and Kobe continuing his recovery from yet another devastating injury, the face of the Lakers franchise has had plenty of time to get caught up on what hot topics are gaining traction on the Twittersphere.
The newest trend that Bryant has become known for is defending the league’s superstars from negative and, quite often, misinformed opinions.
Considering his 18-year career that has resulted in five NBA championships, 17 All-Star appearances and an enormous worldwide fan base for the transcendent player known as “The Black Mamba”, I cannot think of a better elder statesmen for the NBA to defend its star players.
Kobe began offering his words of wisdom yesterday in response to critics of the Oklahoma City Thunder‘s Russell Westbrook and his consistently high rate of shot attempts.
Valid point. He followed up this tweet by reminding us that winning cures everything.
Another great point by the Twitter-savvy aging superstar. Considering that Bryant has always been a big fan of Westbrook’s game, however, this should come as no surprise.
The shocking turn of events came this morning, when Bryant swiftly shut down the notion that LeBron can only win with superstars. Despite once being one of LeBron’s biggest critics among NBA players, Kobe has been staunch in his defense of the Cleveland Cavaliers leader, and attacking the media for generating false perceptions in the process.
While The Black Mamba may be fairly new to Twitter, he is quickly becoming one of the most credible follows out there. Regardless of if you are a fan of the man or not, there are two things that cannot be denied; his status as one of the greatest players of all-time, and, as we are learning each and every day, his wisdom when it comes to shutting down misinformed critics is one of the best of any former or current athletes.
