We all know that picking hitters in FanDuel is not an exact science. What I try to do is take a look at a player’s history against a certain pitcher. On a full slate of games like tonight, there are plenty of options available. Let’s get to them!

More from FanDuel

Here are my FanDuel hitter picks for April 24:

First Base:

Best Bets:

Adrian Gonzalez ($4,700): AGon has four homers in just 25 at bats off of Andrew Cashner. He is hitting .360 wtih six RBI and a walk off of him as well. There is a good chance that he adds on to his early season success here.

Anthony Rizzo ($4,400): Rizzo is hitting .391 with two doubles, two walks, and homer, and three RBI off of Reds starter Mike Leake. This Cubs offense is finally starting to click, which means more RBI chances for Rizzo.

If You’re Cheap:

Matt Adams ($3,200): Adams is off to a slow start in 2015, but his matchup tonight might help turn it around. He is 7/12 with two doubles, a homer and four RBI against Matt Garza, tonight’s starter for the Brewers. That is a .583 average, folks.

Joe Mauer ($3,000): Mauer is one of the few guys that has actually had success against King Felix. Mauer is 14/37 wtih four doubles, four walks, two homers and seven RBI off of Felix Hernandez in his career. He is a solid play if you find yourself strapped for cash.

Second Base:

Best Bet:

Jose Altuve ($4,100): He is a .500 hitter off of Scott Kazmir (11-22) with a homer and three RBI. Altuve is one of the best bets at any position tonight. If you have the capital, he shouldn’t disappoint.

Ian Kinsler ($3,600): Kinsler is 3/10 with a homer and four RBI off of Danny Salazar. It’s a small sample size, but any crooked numbers from Kinsler would be a welcome sight.

If You’re Cheap:

Brandon Phillips ($2,700): Jon Lester had the good fortune of being in the American League and not facing Phillips. In their only meeting, Phillips went a perfect three for three against Lester. Yes, they were all singles, but those count! Add to that the fact that Lester has got off to a rocky start on the North Side, and Phillips looks like a strong play.

Third Base:

Best Bets:

Josh Donaldson ($4,300): Donaldson finds himself in a familiar place. He gets another pitcher in Drew Smyly that he has punished in his career. He is four for six with two doubles, a homer, a walk, and two RBI off of Smyly. Donaldson looks like a strong play once again.

Kris Bryant ($3,900): Bryant is off to a good start to his career. He is hitting .409 with six walks and six RBI. He has yet to hit his first home run, but he has a good chance to do just that against Mike Leake and the Reds.

If You’re Cheap:

Mike Moustakas ($3,100): Despite the lefty-lefty matchup with Jose Quintana, Moose has actually managed to hit him well. That speaks volumes considering how much of a wreck he was most of last season. Moustakas is 10/29 with two homers, two doubles, and three RBI off of Quintana. Strikeouts won’t hurt you in FanDuel, so Moose could be a good play.

Martin Prado ($2,800): Prado is 8/17 in his career against Jordan Zimmerman with three doubles and two RBI. Those are not great numbers, but they are positive numbers that can help propel a winning lineup.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Starlin Castro ($3,800): Castro is 14/36 off of Mike Leake with seven RBI and three walks. He has yet to go deep off of Leake, but he is a good bet to get positive points off of him.

If You’re Cheap:

Jhonny Peralta ($2,800): Peralta has dominated Matt Garza over the course of his career. He is 14-34 with a homer and four RBI off of Garza. Batting in the Cardinals lineup should afford him a few extra RBI opportunities as well.

Catchers:

Best Bet:

Salvador Perez ($3,400): Perez has crushed Jose Quintana over the course of his career. He is 12 for 33 with three doubles, a triple, two homers, two walks and seven RBI. Odds are that he will have at least some positive points in this one.

If You’re Cheap

Carlos Ruiz ($2,200): Ruiz has struggled some this year, but over his career he has hit Alex Wood well. He is three for five with a walk, two doubles, and three RBI off of Wood. This could help Ruiz get going. Just make sure he is in the lineup.

Outfield:

Best Bets:

Giancarlo Stanton ($4,900): Stanton is only hitting .269 off of Jordan Zimmerman, but he has also walked four times and three of his seven hits are home runs off of him. He has driven in six in 26 at bats off of Zimmerman.

Lorenzo Cain ($4,000): Not only is Cain white-hot to start the season, but he has hit Jose Quintana hard in the past. He is 11/34 with four doubles and three RBI off of Quintana. Just make sure that Cain is not suspended after Thursday’s altercation with the White Sox. He was the only position player ejected.

Justin Upton ($3.900): Upton has pounded Zack Greinke in his career. He is 8-17 four four walks, two doubles, a triple, a homer, and three RBI off of him. Now let’s just hope the team doesn’t give Upton the day off again…..

If You’re Cheap:

Chris Coghlan ($3,000): Coghlan is perfect in his career off of Mike Leake. He is 8-8 with three doubles and a homer off of Leake. If he is in the Cubs’ lineup, he should be in yours too. He has proven his worth.

Austin Jackson ($2,600): Jackson is 7-23 with a triple and a homer off of Twins starter Phil Hughes. He hasn’t driven in runs off of Hughes, but he is still seeing success. For $2,600, he should get you positive points.
