During the Arkansas spring football game, reporter Laura Rutledge got her number called in a trick play, but dropped the pass in the end zone.

The Arkansas Razorbacks thought that they would have a little fun during their Spring football game this weekend. While in the red zone, reporter Laura Rutledge got a play called her way.

Unfortunately, she could not hold on to the pass on the perfectly executed trick play that no one was expecting.

I know Laura probably hasn’t had any formal training at wide receiver, but catching a pass that easy is something you just have to come down with. She was completely unguarded and the ball wasn’t even coming in hot. It was lazily lobbed up there for her to just reach out her hands and let it fall into her bread basket.

Obviously, that didn’t happen. The embarrassment she will feel for years to come will go with her when she walks on the sidelines at any college football game she covers.

Spring football games are always filled with these hi-jinx. When Jadaveon Clowney used to play for South Carolina, he flew on the field and scored a touchdown, even though he wasn’t participating in the game at all.

The big difference between the two trick plays was that Clowney actually scored a touchdown even though he had to take a tumble before actually landing in the end zone. Rutledge couldn’t even manage to haul in a pass let alone score a touchdown. This is probably because Clowney was a division I athlete at the time and Rutledge is a sideline reporter. So I guess I can give her a pass.
