Is it me or is this season flying by? It’s already Week 4, but there’s still a long way to go. The Houston Astros have a lot of superstars to roster in a standard league. However, there are a couple of names coming out of the woodwork. Jake Marisnick is having a nice season, but nobody knows about him. If he’s on your league’s waiver wire, get him now.

After spending two years with the Miami Marlins, mostly in Triple A, he was sent to the Astros in a July deadline deal. That was the best thing to happen to him because he found a starting job almost immediately. He competed in the spring and won the starting center fielder job.
He’s done a fantastic job both in the field and at the plate. In a small sample size, he has a perfect fielding percentage, 35-for-35. For fantasy owners, the more important stats come from what he does with his bat. In 15 games, he has 16 hits, two home runs, eight RBI and six stolen bases with a .364/.408/.591 line.
The speed was what owners should have known about Marisnick before this season. He stole 11 combined bases with the Marlins and Astros in 2014. He stole 24 bases with Triple-A New Orleans last year. He also hit 10 home runs and drove in 40 runs. A 15/25 season is not out of reach for Marisnick.

The combination of power and speed is rare in baseball, making Marisknick a must-own player in all leagues. After missing two games with a leg injury, he hit a home run and stole two bases, the beloved “Combo Meal” to fans of the Fantasy Focus podcast.
He is owned in just 25 percent of ESPN leagues, with an increase of 20 percent over the last week. With matchups against the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners coming up, Marisnick could continue to help his fantasy owners. There are multiple superstars dealing with major and minor injuries, so Marisnick should be owned in more leagues. He can produce all over and will be a popular waiver wire pickup this week.
