The NFL Draft is set to happen this week and all eyes are falling on Marcus Mariota, who will be one of the biggest prizes to be won this year. As Mariota is set to begin the next phase of his career, some of the student-athletes at Oregon University spoke in a thank you video to the former quarterback for their football team.

Truly an awesome gesture from the student athletes who will miss their leader and friend as he enters the NFL Draft. Mariota spent three seasons at Oregon and his accomplishments at quarterback are rivaled by few. He threw for over 10,000 yards and completed 105 touchdown passes in his three year career. He even became the first Oregon Duck to win the Heisman trophy during his junior year.

Besides his work on the field, Mariota seemed to be a model student athlete for Oregon. He was always humble in interviews, never got into any trouble off the field, and had an extreme amount of passion for his school as exhibited in his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech.

It is clear throughout the video that the student athletes at Oregon admire Mariota. That him leaving a year early to pursue a professional football career leaves no hard feelings on their end. It’s great to see a kid have such a positive impact on a university and athletic program. As draft day approaches, Oregon’s student athletes wish him the best for whatever his future holds.
