Here are my FanDuel hitter picks for May 1:

Catcher:

Best Bet:

Brian McCann, Yankees ($3,300): McCann is four for six with a double off of Justin Masterson. He has not driven in a run off of him, but with that track record, positive points are all but certain.

If You’re Cheap:

Carlos Ruiz, Phillies ($2,200): Ruiz is struggling so far this year, but he has done well against Marlins starter Tom Koehler. Ruiz is three for eight lifetime off of Koehler with a double and four RBI.

Outfielders:

Best Bets:

Mike Trout, Angels ($5,400): This is Chris Heston‘s first time facing Trout and the Angels in his career. Good luck, Chris. You are going to need it against Trout.

Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins ($5,100): Stanton has only faced Jerome Williams three times, but he singled and homered off of him. I wouldn’t bet against him doing it again.

Starling Marte, Pirates ($4,200): Marte has hit Lance Lynn very well in his career. He is 8 for 18 with two walks, two doubles, and a triple. He has not driven in a run off of Lynn, but he has scored his share.

Matt Holliday, Cardinals ($3,500): Holliday has done great against A.J. Burnett over the course of their careers. Holliday is 9 for 30 with three walks, two doubles, a homer, and an impressive seven RBI. Burnett may pitch well, but it is a safe bet for Holliday to get something tonight.

If You’re Cheap:

Jason Heyward, Cardinals ($3,000): Heyward has rocked Burnett in his career. J-Hey is 7 for 16 with two walks, two homers, and four RBI off of Burnett. That makes him a good play tonight.

Shin-Soo Choo, Rangers ($2,500): Choo has hit very well off of Scott Kazmir. He is 6 for 16 with five walks, a homer, and three RBI. He could be a great cheap source of points tonight.

Carlos Beltran, Yankees ($2,200): It is a small sample size, but Beltran is two for four with a homer off of Masterson. If he is in the Yankee lineup tonight, he could be  a sneaky source of points.

First Base:

Best Bet:

Joe Mauer, Twins ($3,200): Mauer has always hit lefties fairly well, but he takes it to another level against Jose Quintana. Mauer is 9 of 21 with a walk, two homers, and five RBI off of the White Sox lefty. He is a great option tonight. After seeing what the Twins did to Chris Sale last night, I may be playing more of them than I would normally consider.

If You’re Cheap:

Billy Butler, Athletics ($2,800): Butler is three for 11 in his career off of Texas starter Colby Lewis with a double, a homer, and four RBI. He is a nice lower range option.

Second Base:

Best Bet:

Neil Walker, Pirates ($3,000): Walker is another player that has hit Lance Lynn very well. He is 10 of 31 with six walks, three doubles, a triple, two homers, and eight RBI. I dare you to find somebody better!

If You’re Cheap:

Chase Utley, Phillies ($2,500): Utley has five hits in 13 at bats off of Tom Koehler with two doubles and three RBI. You might have to use him if you take an expensive pitcher.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Ian Desmond, Nationals ($3,000): Desmond has actually hit Matt Harvey well. He is one of the few people that can say that. Desmond is four for 11 with three walks, a double, and a solo home run off of the Mets phenom.

If You’re Cheap:

Jordy Mercer, Pirates ($2,300): Mercer’s defense has managed to keep him in the lineup most days, and he should be in there tonight as well considering his history against Lance Lynn. Mercer is 4-11 with a walk, a double, and three RBI off of Lynn.

Third Base:

Best Bet:

Matt Carpenter, Cardinals ($4,100): Carpenter is 9-23 off of A.J. Burnett with five walks, two doubles, two triples, and an RBI. With the way he is swinging the bat anyway, you would be hard pressed to find a better option tonight.

If You’re Cheap:

Evan Longoria, Rays ($3,100): Longoria has punished Chris Tillman in his career. He has 14 hits, three walks, two doubles, six homers, and eight RBI in 33 at bats. Longoria may be struggling a little this year, but there is no way I am ignoring this line!
