There is only one day game today, so that means the other 14 games are in the big tournaments. That leaves 28 starting pitchers to choose from. Who are the best options? Let’s take a look!

Here are my FanDuel pitcher picks for May 1:
High Priced ($7,800 and up):
Best Bet:
Matt Harvey, Mets ($10,300): Harvey has dominated the Nationals. They have just 17 hits to 30 strikeouts in 80 at bats. Moreover, the has only allowed two RBI in those 80 at bats, both on solo homers by Ian Desmond and Ryan Zimmerman. Harvey has a slightly better chance to pick up the win, so he gets ranked a little higher.
Honorable Mention:
Max Scherzer, Nationals ($10,500): Scherzer has manhandled the current Mets roster. They have only 14 hits to 21 strikeouts in 70 at bats. Only Michael Cuddyer and Curtis Granderson have managed to take him deep, but they hold half of those 70 at bats.
Stay Away:
Lance Lynn, Cardinals ($8,100): Lynn got rocked the by Brewers, yes those Brewers, his last time out. Tonight he takes on a Pirates team that has hit a collective .286 off of him in 161 at bats. Josh Harrison and Starling Marte have hit him particularly hard, but more on that in the hitters article!
Next: Who Is The Best Mid-Range Option?

Mid Range ($6,500-$7,700):
Best Bet:
Justin Masterson, Red Sox ($6,900): Before you all think I’ve gone off my rocker recommending a guy like Masterson against the Yankees, let’s take a look at the stats. Masterson has only allowed 24 hits in 110 at bats against the current Yankees roster. No one with more than six at bats against him is hitting better than .250. He looks like a really good option, especially when you consider the struggles that mound foe C.C. Sabathia has had lately.
Honorable Mention:
Anthony DeSclafani, Reds ($7,700): Mike Leake dominated the Braves tonight, and DeSclafani has pitched better than Leake so far this year. That is not a definitive indicator, but the Braves are struggling right now. He looks like a strong option tonight.
Stay Away:
Mark Buehrle, Blue Jays ($7,500): The current Cleveland roster is hitting a robust .299 off of Buehrle in 177 at bats. He is not a high strikeout guy to begin with. If you start him against a lineup that hits him this well, you are asking for trouble.
Next: Who Tops The Bargains?

Bargains ($6,400 and under)
Best Bet:
Rubby de la Rosa, Diamondbacks ($6,300): de la Rosa has little history against the Dodgers, so this isn’t based on past performances. Well, it kind of is. de la Rosa dominated the Pirates last week. He also has 25 strikeouts already, so that is some extra points in FanDuel. On top of that, he is facing a guy in Carlos Frias that is making his first major league start of the season. He is the best option out there.
Honorable Mention:
Jerome Williams, Phillies ($6,300): Yes, he pitches for the Phillies, so wins will be hard to come by. He has actually done fairly well against the Marlins so far in his career, and his mound opponent is Tom Koehler. A guy that the Phillies have hit .330 off of so far in his career.
Stay Away:
Trevor Cahill, Braves ($5,100): Cahill needed a relief appearance to get his ERA under 10 for the season. Now he is going against a Reds team that is hitting the ball pretty well right now. You couldn’t pay me to play Cahill.
Stay tuned to Fantasy CPR for the rest of your daily lineups!
