There are five games in the afternoon on this getaway day. That leaves us enough options to have some lineup parity in the big tournaments. Who are the best options? Let’s follow the numbers!

More from FanDuel

Here are my early FanDuel linueps for May 7:

Pitchers:

Best Bet:

Jake Arrieta, Cubs ($9,700): Arrieta has had really good success against the Cardinals. They have hit just .180 off of Arrieta with one home run in 111 at bats. Matt Holliday is just 1-15 in his career off of Arrieta. Not to be outdone, Matt Carpenter is 0-13! Yadier Molina is only 2-10. Mark Reynolds owns that only home run, and he did it in just three at bats. Stay away from most Cardinals hitters today.

Honorable Mention:

Mike Fiers, Brewers ($7,400): Fiers dominated the Cubs in his last outing. He doesn’t have much of a history against the Dodgers, but Andre Ethier is the only one to have success against him (3-4). He is here because he struck out 12 in his last start, and he has a good chance for a win going against Carlos Frias. Frias looked good in his first start, but the Brewers bats are starting to wake up.

Stay Away:

Jose Quintana, White Sox ($7,200): Quintana has been hammered by the Tigers in his career. The current team is hitting .329 off of him in 152 at bats with 6 homers and 22 RBI. J.D. Martinez (1-9) and Alex Avila (1-6) are the only regulars to struggle against him. You are going to see a lot of Tigers on this list today.

Catchers:

Best Bet:

Victor Martinez, Tigers ($3,100): V-Mart is open for business today. He has 10 hits in 21 at bats with a double and three RBI off of Quintana. You would almost consider him struggling after you see some of the other numbers coming up…..

If You’re Cheap:

James McCann, Tigers ($2,400): McCann has only faced Quintana twice, but his one hit off of him was a triple. McCann will likely get the nod over Alex Avila with the left handed Quintana on the hill. He is worth a flier more than anyone else on the list.

Next: Let's Check The Infield

First Base:

Best Bet:

Miguel Cabrera, Tigers ($5,000): Miggy’s numbers are tame compared to some off of Quintana, but he has still had success. He is 8-23 wtih two walks, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI. Expect more crooked numbers from Miggy again today against the Sox.

If You’re Cheap:

Matt Adams, Cardinals ($2,900): He is one of the few redbirds that has actually figured out Arrieta. Adams is 5-12 wtih two walks, a double, and three RBI off of the Cubs youngster. He has also struck out four times, but that won’t hurt you in FanDuel.

Second Base:

Best Bet:

Ian Kinsler, Tigers ($3,400): Kinsler is 6-20 with a walk, two doubles, and two RBI off of Quintana. With so many other Tigers rounding the bases, he is a good chance to either join them or drive them in.

If You’re Cheap:

Omar Infante, Royals ($2,200): You won’t see Omar on here too often. Especially against a guy like Corey Kluber. Infante has hit Kluber well though. He is 7-20 off of him with a walk, two doubles, and an RBI. It’s not great, but for the price it could be.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Jhonny Peralta, Cardinals ($2,700): Peralta is 6-19 with a walk, three doubles, and an RBI off of Arrieta. He has the most proven track record of any shortstop this afternoon.

Honorable Mention:

Jimmy Rollins, Dodgers ($2,700): Rollins has only faced Fiers five times, but he has two hits off of him, one being a double. If Rollins gets on base, he is still dangerous.

Third Base:

Best Bet:

Mike Moustakas, Royals ($2,700): Moose has rocked Corey Kluber for whatever reason. He is 11 for 25 with two walks, five doubles, a homer, and three RBI off of the Indians’ ace. Moose is a must-play against Kluber.

Honorable Mention:

Kris Bryant, Cubs ($3,600): If you absolutely must pick someone other than Moose, I would take Bryant. Just because he gets on base and drives in runs.

Next: Who Are The Best Outfielders?

Outfielders:

Best Bets:

Yoenis Cespedes, Tigers ($3,200): No one has hit Quintana harder than Cespedes. He has six hits in eight at bats, and only one of those hits was a single! That’s right. Five of the six went for extra bases. One was a double, the other four were homers. He also has driven in nine of off Quintana. Cespedes should be 100% owned in the early tournaments.

Rajai Davis, Tigers ($3,000): Davis will start against the lefty. It also helps that he has good career numbers against Quintana. Rajai is hitting .379 (11-29) with a walk, three doubles, a homer, and two RBI. That doesn’t even factor in the damage he has done on the basepaths.

Andre Ethier, Dodgers ($2,700): Ethier has three hits in four at bats off of Mike Fiers. Only one went for extra bases (a double), and he has driven in a run. Those are not great numbers, but good enough to take a shot with.

If You’re Cheap:

Jarrod Dyson, Royals ($2,500): Dyson has hit Kluber very well. He is 7-24 with a walk and an RBI off of Kluber. He won’t win you the tournament with those numbers, but he could be a good asset at a low price.

Chris Coghlan, Cubs ($2,200): Coghlan is 5-8 off of John Lackey with a pair of RBI. If he is in the lineup this afternoon, playing him could be a good idea. It is cheap points if you want to buy all of the expensive Tigers hitters!
