When building a FanDuel linup for MLB, pitcher is the most important piece. If you miss on your pitcher, you have no chance. You have to be within at least three points of the top scoring pitcher to even have a chance. Who are the best pitching options today? Let’s find out!

Here are my FanDuel pitcher picks for May 10:
High Priced ($8,000 and up):
Best Bet:
Felix Hernandez, Mariners ($11,300): It’s good to be King. Especially when you hold court at home against an Oakland team that you have dominated. The current A’s are only hitting .222 off of Felix in 252 career at bats, with just two home runs. The stats say that the highest priced option is the best bet today.
Honorable Mention:
Jake Odorizzi, Rays ($8,700): Odorizzi has impressed this year, putting up a 2.21 ERA and microscopic 0.89 WHIP. What’s more impressive than that? He has not stepped out of the AL East yet. He did that against five AL East teams! Today, he finally gets a reprieve of sorts in the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have a good offense, but they have struggled against Odorizzi so far. They are only hitting .211 off of him, but it is a really small sample size (38 at bats). Still, something can be said for Jake only allowing one RBI.
Stay Away:
Garrett Richards, Angels ($8,700): Richards has had a nice season so far, but there are a couple of reasons to avoid him today. First off, he gets arguably the hottest team in baseball right now in the Houston Astros. On top of that, the current Astros roster has hit a robust .291 in 141 at bats off of him with three homers and 17 runs. There are better options out there.
Next: Are There Any Mid Range Bargains?

Middle Range ($6,500-$7,900):
Best Bet:
Mat Latos, Marlins ($6,900): Yes, Latos had a horrible start in a Marlins uniform, but he has pitched better lately. He also gets to take on the offensively challenged Giants, a team that is only hitting .212 off of Latos in 99 at bats. Add to the fact that he has a great chance of winning opposite Ryan Vogelsong, and you could make a strong case for starting Latos in any format.
Honorable Mention:
R.A. Dickey, Blue Jays ($7,700): Dickey has been hit fairly hard by the Red Sox, but the Blue Jays have done worse to Clay Buchholz. The middle tier is littered with starting pitchers with bad matchups. Dickey at least has a really good chance at a win.
Stay Away:
Wow, this is tough. Do you go with Jesse Chavez, who has allowed the Mariners to hit .357 off of him with four homers and 19 runs in just 84 at bats? Do you go with a red-hot Twins team that historically hits Danny Salazar well (.308)? Or do you go with Matt Garza, whom the Cubs have punished since he left the Friendly Confines to the tune of a .329 average despite never having taken him deep? Oh, what the hell. Avoid all of them!
Next: Who Is The Cheap Gem?
May 1, 2015; Kansas City, MO, USA; Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Chris Young (32) delivers a pitch against Detroit Tigers in the first inning at Kauffman Stadium. Mandatory Credit: John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports
Low Priced ($6,400 and under):
Best Bet:
Chris Young, Royals ($6,300): I know. You think I have lost my mind recommending Young against the Tigers, but hear me out. The Tigers have hit just .114 off of Young in 70 at bats. If it were anyone else besides Chris Young, you could call it domination instead of luck. What about the big bats, you ask? Victor Martinez? 1-10 with three strikeouts, and the hit was a single. Yoenis Cespedes? 1-9. Miguel Cabrera? 2-16 with five strikeouts, but he does own the current roster’s only long ball off of Young. Trust the stats. It could pay off huge!
Honorable Mention:
Tyler Lyons, Cardinals ($5,900): Lyons has held the Pirates to a .233 average over 43 at bats. He has a solid chance going against Jeff Locke today. It is a small sample size, but its either Lyons or unproven Michael Lorenzen against the White Sox. Which isn’t a bad option either going against the struggling Sox offense and John Danks.
Stay Away:
Jorge De La Rosa, Rockies ($6,000): Yes, I am well aware that for some reason Jorge pitches well at Coors Field. I am also aware that he has been tattooed in every start this year, one of which was at Coors Field. Add to that the fact that he has to face Clayton Kershaw, and he has practically a zero chance at the elusive four points for a win. Look elsewhere for lightning in a bottle today.
Stay tuned to Fantasy CPR for our hitter picks!
