Illinois Fighting Illini head football coach Tim Beckman will be answering a lot of questions this week after former lineman Simon Cvijanovic went off on him.

Being a collegiate head coach means you must be understanding and a player’s coach. If you want to succeed in college football, you have to show your players that you care and understand. According to former Illinois offensive lineman Simon Cvijanovic, Tim Beckman was the exact opposite of what you look for in a coach.

The two-year starter for Illinois was uninvited to the team’s senior banquet this week and he took to Twitter to voice his outrage.

Cvijanovic was a lightly-recruited offensive lineman out of high school, rating as a two-star by most sites’ standards. He was redshirted during his freshman season and didn’t play at all the next year. He had since become a staple on the ever-improving Illini offensive line and he became one of the better blockers in the Big Ten.

However, injuries forced him to end his career early, but he still has some choice words for his former head coach.

OK, this may be just me talking here, but it seems like Cvijanovic has some serious beef. Those series of texts were, at some points, directed at Beckman as well as the NCAA and Illinois alumni. He is unhappy with the way Beckman led his team and claimed that the head coach even caused some abuse to other players.

This will be an interesting case to follow in the coming months.
